 Silicone Baby Doll Care Instructions

Silicone care

Silicone naturally attracts dust and lint, therefore it will require cleaning on a regular basis. The most frequent cleaning would be dusting. The easiest way to remove some dust and lint is to take a clean powder brush and dip it into some baby powder. You can then brush the surface of the silicone to clean off any debris. This is a great way to keep the silicone feeling soft just like baby skin. For heavily soiled silicone you can give the doll a bath. Just use some warm water and gentle soap. Lightly use a soft sponge or your hand to glide along the silicone surface dislodging any dust, hair, or lint. Rinse with clean water. You can then dry your doll off using a towel with patting motions, no rubbing or scrubbing. or you can allow your doll to air dry. Once the doll is dry, make sure to use a light dusting of baby powder to keep the silicone from getting dirty. Use a soft powder brush and make sure you get into all the small crevices and areas around the ears, eyes, and nose. Now your doll is ready to be dressed! Remember not to pull or tug on the silicone too much when dressing or holding. Keep your doll out of direct sunlight to ensure colorfastness of the paint and hair.

Mohair Care

Your silicone doll was rooted with mohair which is a natural fiber from special goats. This hair is soft and beautiful and easy to care for. Treat the hair as you would your own hair by brushing gently. The hair is not anchored into the head, so be gentle and don’t pull on the hair or it may come out. When bathing, make sure to keep the head above the water to ensure that the hair does not tangle. You can wash the hair with some gentle soap or shampoo. I would not condition the hair with conditioner. Instead I use baby dentangling spray. Not only does it help the hair stay soft and smelling nice, it also is great for styling! Be careful when putting hats on your baby as this may cause the hair to matte and tangle which may result in knots and pulling the hair out. Always be gentle when brushing and styling!

Pacifiers

The easiest and safest way I have found for inserting pacifiers into my silicone doll’s mouth is to coat the nipple in a little bit of isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol). It allows the pacifier to slide in without friction, dries quickly, won’t create mold, and will not hurt your silicone. Be careful when removing the pacifier as the alcohol may have dried. Be especially careful around the corners of the mouth as pulling can cause tearing in those areas.
